This role is for a Hardware Team Lead in the Electronics Group, responsible for defining and delivering the complex integrated electronics solution for a Quantum Computer. The leader designs, builds, and tests electronic systems using standard tools, while managing project timelines and supplier relationships. Furthermore, this role involves mentoring team members and ensuring effective collaboration across hardware, software, and physics disciplines to achieve integrated solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical decision maker for the complex integrated electronics solution of the Quantum Computer.
Design, build, and test electronic solutions utilizing analogue and digital circuit design, industry standard CAD packages, and test equipment.
Lead and mentor senior and junior team members in electronics idea creation, design, and collaborative teamwork.
Ensure an integrated solution by collaborating multidisciplinary efforts with mechanical engineers, software engineers, physicists, and external suppliers.
Manage commercial aspects and engagements with external suppliers.
Required Skills
Minimum 15+ years' experience in high-performance Electronics Design, including Digital, Analogue and Embedded systems.
Excellent knowledge of electronic circuit theory and good EM field theory, including noise analysis.
Proficiency in PCB schematic and layout using CAD tools, along with verification and debugging skills using electronic test equipment.
Strong engineering planning skills and experience working with Jira.
Team management experience.
At least a 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience of working with suppliers and contractors.
Nice-to-have Skills
A background in RF engineering, Research, Metrology, or instrumentation.
Understanding of signal integrity, high-speed digital systems, and EMC.
Experience using C or scripting languages like Python or MATLAB.
Experience with LabVIEW.
Experience in FPGAs and embedded software engineering for real-time systems.
Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
Technology Tags
