Universal Quantum is hiring a Quantum Error Correction Scientist to develop and simulate robust quantum error correction protocols. This role involves designing experiments to characterize noise profiles and error correction performance tailored to underlying quantum hardware. The scientist will also perform resource estimation for large-scale applications to optimize system performance for the near and far term.
Key Responsibilities
Simulate and design experiments to characterize error correction protocols.
Tailor quantum error correction protocols to effectively leverage the strengths of the underlying hardware.
Design experiments to characterize the noise profile of physical qubits.
Perform resource estimation for large-scale applications using quantum error correction frameworks.
Advise on hardware choices and software control to optimize quantum error correction performance in both the near and far term.
Required Skills
Experience developing, simulating, and modifying quantum error correction protocols.
Working knowledge of benchmarking procedures.
Experience with error mitigation and compilation techniques.
Ability to perform simulation and modelling to inform experiments.
PhD or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years (degree-inclusive) experience in quantum error correction development and research.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published research results.
Nice-to-have Skills
Knowledge of quantum algorithms and applications.
Knowledge of tools such as Qiskit, Stim.
Proficient in Python.
