This role seeks a PhD candidate to research the use of quantum computing to solve Machine Learning problems in the railway industry digital twins. The candidate will first analyze how quantum technology, especially Quantum Machine Learning and optimization, can impact the CAF group. The core task involves adapting a real industrial problem to the quantum computing framework and solving a simplified version to establish requirements for future applications.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out a doctoral thesis focused on exploring the use of quantum computing for resolving Machine Learning algorithms in the railway sector.
Analyze relevant quantum applications, such as Quantum Machine Learning and optimization, and assess their potential impact on the CAF group's needs.
Transform a real industrial problem from the railway sector into a framework suitable for quantum computers.
Resolve a simplified version of the industrial problem using quantum methods.
Establish requirements for the future utilization of quantum solutions based on the implementation example.
Required Skills
Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (or another Master's with a solid mathematical background)
Proficiency in English
Experience with Python programming
Experience with Matlab software
Nice-to-have Skills
