This Senior Quantum Error Correction Researcher role focuses on driving high-impact research to develop the world's first scalable Quantum Error Correction (QEC) stack. The position requires balancing deep, hands-on research with technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction. The researcher will lead multi-person projects and manage a small team within a larger, cross-functional group of scientists and engineers to accelerate the company's mission.
Key Responsibilities
Drive high-impact, hands-on research in quantum error correction (QEC) while coaching and developing researchers on your team.
Own and lead multi-person research projects from beginning to end, collaborating with cross-functional teams across the company.
Define the strategic direction and priorities of QEC research as the company scales its technology roadmap.
Translate cutting-edge research findings into tangible outcomes that contribute directly to the company's strategic goals.
Provide line management, mentorship, and support to team members to facilitate their professional growth and increase their responsibilities.
Build strong relationships with external partners, collaborators, and customers, including hardware partners across all qubit types.
Communicate research results clearly and decisively through publications, talks, and presentations at leading conferences and workshops.
Required Skills
PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
Proven ability to undertake high-quality theoretical work, such as demonstrated through publications.
Experience driving the strategic direction of scientific or technical research.
Experience leading projects that involve multiple team members.
Working knowledge of Quantum Error Correction (QEC).
Experience guiding and mentoring less-experienced colleagues.
Strong written and oral communication skills for discussing complex ideas with diverse audiences.
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience leading or conducting Quantum Error Correction (QEC) research, shown through scientific publications.
Knowledge of quantum Low-Density Parity-Check (qLDPC) codes.
Understanding of one or more qubit modalities.
Experience leading a research group balancing multiple competing project priorities.
Knowledge of Python and/or C++.
A track record of successfully winning contracts or grants.
