This Senior Electrical Engineer position supports the development and deployment of neutral atom quantum computers by contributing to the Hardware Engineering Organization. The role involves developing complex electronics projects, from initial concept to full production and ongoing support. Key activities include designing precision analog and digital control systems and collaborating closely with physicists, software, and mechanical engineers to define system requirements and interfaces. Key Responsibilities
Design precision analog, mixed-signal, and digital electronics to support quantum control systems.
Collaborate with physicists, software developers, and mechanical engineers to define comprehensive system requirements and interfaces.
Develop hardware subsystems, including power delivery, low-noise analog front ends, high-speed digital control, and RF or microwave circuitry.
Perform PCB layout, utilizing tools like Altium, and execute validation while working with external manufacturing partners.
Lead the bring-up, testing, and debugging of custom boards and manage system-level integration.
Maintain best practices in electrical design, including comprehensive design reviews, documentation, and validation procedures.
Focus on the continuous improvement of system performance, reliability, and ease of manufacturability.
Required Skills
A BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely-related field.
Five or more years of experience designing complex electrical systems across both analog and digital domains.
Expertise in at least one area: low-noise analog design, high-speed digital systems, RF systems, FPGA-based control, or precision timing.
Experience using lab debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analyzers for hardware bring-up and system integration.
Proficiency with simulation and analysis tools like Altium Designer, LTspice, MATLAB, or Python.
Strong documentation and communication skills.
Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary startup environment.
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience with instrumentation or control systems used in complex scientific or industrial equipment.
Soldering and rework experience to facilitate quick debugging efforts.
Experience working within a regulated or safety-critical environment, such as aerospace or medical systems.
Hands-on experience developing firmware or working with embedded systems.
