This role is for a Quantum R&D Engineer focused on the technical development and optimization of Josephson Travelling Wave Parametric Amplifiers (TWPAs). The engineer will drive the direction for improving qubit readout amplifier performance, pushing them to their physical limits. Responsibilities include developing next-generation quantum amplifiers, researching bandwidth and noise reduction, and contributing across the entire development cycle, from theory and design to fabrication and measurement.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of the technical development and performance improvement of Josephson Travelling Wave Parametric Amplifiers (TWPAs).

Develop next-generation quantum amplifiers for qubit readout, focusing research directions on extending bandwidth and improving noise performance.

Contribute to the full development cycle of quantum amplifiers, including theory, design, fabrication, or cryogenic measurement, depending on skill set.

Clearly present technical findings and proposals to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to influence product roadmap and decisions.

Actively research and contribute new ideas based on state-of-the-art techniques in parametric amplification.

Required Skills

PhD or equivalent industry experience in quantum-limited amplification or parametric amplifiers (TWPAs, JPAs).

Experience with closely related superconducting microwave circuits.

Hands-on experience with at least one aspect of the amplifier development cycle, such as design, simulation, fabrication, or cryogenic measurement.

Proven ability to independently drive technical development, structure priorities, and solve open-ended problems in a research and development setting.

Excellent communication skills for clearly presenting technical findings and influencing decisions.
