This role seeks a Sr. Advanced ASIC Engineer to contribute to the development of Quantinuum's Apollo and Lumos quantum computers. The engineer will leverage their ASIC design expertise to refine system architecture, prototype, and design ASICs, working closely with foundries and internal teams. This position is instrumental in defining and implementing ASIC technologies necessary for the company's quantum computing roadmap and scalability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and implement ASICs with external partners to support Quantinuum’s quantum computer roadmap and goals.
Translate quantum computer requirements into a comprehensive plan for integrating ASICs into the broader roadmap and addressing scalability challenges.
Identify key enabling technology areas for ASIC development and manage feasibility studies, prototyping, and risk reduction activities.
Plan and manage the execution of ASIC development from the initial concept phase through integration.
Provide technical expertise to inform future product development and process improvements across the organization.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s Degree minimum
5+ years of experience in an engineering or R&D environment
3+ years of experience in analog ASIC tool flows and technologies
3+ years of experience with the specification, development, verification, and test of analog ASIC technologies
Nice-to-have Skills
Masters or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Full-custom analog ASIC development experience with proven ability to deliver into production
Hands-on experience with ASIC device models, design, synthesis, simulation, timing closure, and verification
Experience with ASIC integration of digital and analog circuitry components such as low-noise amplifiers, DACs/ADCs, signal filtering, and control loops
Experience in ASIC development for ultra-high vacuum and cryogenic environments, including understanding cryo temperature effects on circuit performance
Experience with electrical engineering challenges specific to ion-trap quantum computers and noise mitigation
Proven leadership ability, including program execution and mentoring of engineers and technicians
