This role is for an R&D Opto-Mechanical Engineer who will contribute to the design and development of next-generation quantum computers, specifically ion trap systems. The engineer will focus on creating state-of-the-art physics packages for these systems. This involves designing, modeling, building, and testing complex ultrahigh vacuum, cryogenic, and optical components to advance quantum computing technology.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to a team that delivers state-of-the-art solutions for housing next-generation ion trap systems in a high-performance physics package.
Work closely with colleagues and collaborators to design, model, build, integrate, test, revise, and/or validate prototype and proof of concept designs for complex ultrahigh vacuum, cryogenic, and optical systems.
Design and build novel components for ultrahigh vacuum and cryogenic test systems.
Iterate on designs by performing simulations, testing, and analyzing results to draw conclusions and recommend actions.
Troubleshoot and conduct failure analysis of these systems to improve design, performance, and process.
Perform hands-on cleanroom and cryogenics assembly, validation, and trouble-shooting.
