The researcher will work as part of a small team to launch and ensure the continuous operation of this next-generation quantum system. Success requires a strong background in quantum computing, atomic physics, or technical operations, alongside experience operating complex technical apparatus.
Key Responsibilities
Launch, maintain, develop, and operate the on-premises Helios quantum computer while working as part of a small team.
Provide oversight and assume responsibility for specific subsystems, such as the laser, and functional capabilities like ion transport.
Conceptualize and execute operational and development plans for the quantum computer system.
Remotely operate and maintain cloud-based H-series quantum computers in collaboration with a global team.
Mentor and train junior team members regarding technical and operational procedures.
Required Skills
Ph.D. degree is the minimum required academic qualification.
Minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience (M.S. or Ph.D. inclusive).
Nice-to-have Skills
Proven hardware expertise in atomic physics systems, superconducting qubits, or other quantum computing platforms.
Experience with lasers, laser cooling, atom trapping, cryogenics, and ultra-high vacuum systems.
Proficiency with analog and digital electronics, laboratory hardware control, Python, physical modeling, and data analysis.
A track record of high-technology research and development, shown through scholarly publications or patents.
Experience in international and/or remote collaboration and projects.
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
