This role is for an Experimental Physicist to work on quantum computing systems. The individual will help develop, integrate, and operate quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits. This involves designing, developing, verifying, and deploying new concepts, collecting data, and presenting scientific results to peers and at conferences.
Key Responsibilities
Remotely support commercial quantum computers.
Apply experimental laboratory research experience to design, develop, verify, and deploy quantum computers using trapped ions as qubits.
Collaborate with teams of scientists and engineers to bring new quantum computing concepts to life.
Work in a research lab to collect data on system performance and characterize device characteristics.
Perform design trade studies and analysis.
Present scientific results at conferences or in publications.
Required Skills
Completed PhD prior to starting
Minimum 4+ years experience (PhD inclusive) in quantum information, qubits, atomic physics, precision spectroscopy, optics, vacuum systems, electronics, cryogenics, or laser
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience with design or operation of a device for quantum information processing
Experience with laser cooling and trapping of ions or neutral atoms
Experience performing simulation and modelling to inform experiments
Experience programming experimental control systems for data collection, signal processing, and data analysis
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published research results
Experience in post-doctoral research positions or other mentorship positions
Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
