The Research Scientist will join Quandela's Semiconductor R&D Optics division to develop and validate advanced optical excitation schemes for single-photon sources. This role involves designing and operating custom cryogenic optical experiments to study semiconductor quantum emitters, focusing on optimizing brightness and indistinguishability. The primary goal is translating quantum optics research into reliable photonic quantum computing hardware and supporting the company's roadmap toward fault-tolerant systems.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and stabilize custom optical setups to study semiconductor quantum emitters at cryogenic temperatures.
Implement and characterize excitation sequences using picosecond lasers and advanced pulse-shaping modules.
Optimize optical excitation protocols to enhance the brightness and indistinguishability of single-photon sources.
Validate and document experimental methods for integration into the company’s single-photon source roadmap.
Collaborate with various internal teams and contribute findings through publications and presentations.
Required Skills
A PhD in Optics, Photonics, or Semiconductor Physics along with hands-on experience in optical research labs.
Strong experimental skills, including optical alignment, setting up cryogenic systems, and ensuring system stabilization.
Proficiency in laser spectroscopy, pulse shaping, and time-resolved measurements focused on quantum emitters.
Proficiency in Python for controlling experiments, automating processes, and analyzing data.
Excellent communication and documentation skills, specifically C1 level English proficiency
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience with chirped-pulse or two-photon resonant spectroscopy techniques.
Knowledge of cavity QED or photonic cavity design for optimizing emitters and cavities.
A publication record in quantum optics or semiconductor physics journals.
Experience in collaborative or multi-institutional research and development projects.
Basic French skills for lab and administrative coordination.
