Employer Type

🏢 Industry

This role seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to help transition advanced manufacturing processes from the development stage into large-scale, scalable production. The engineer will optimize processes for high-yield, robust production using data-driven methods, precision polishing, and vacuum tool development. This position requires close collaboration with R&D, equipment, and operations teams across the Milpitas and Palo Alto facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for precision fabrication, assembly, and finishing operations, translating R&D methods into stable, repeatable production.

Collaborate with equipment engineers to specify, validate, and qualify vacuum-based process tools, and support maintenance and root cause investigations.

Implement data-driven Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods, analyze process data, and establish key performance metrics to ensure product quality.

Own end-to-end performance metrics, including uptime, yield, and throughput, for assigned tools and processes.

Drive continuous improvement, including root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and implementing Design of Experiments (DOE) for process optimization.

Optimize production line layout for efficiency, ergonomics, and throughput.

Author and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process documentation.

Required Skills

B.S. or M.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in semiconductor, precision optics, or advanced manufacturing environments.

Experience with vacuum systems, leak checking, and process tool qualification.

Experience with line layout optimization, workflow design, or lean manufacturing principles.

Proficiency conducting time studies and productivity analyses.

Proficiency with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), and data analysis tools (like JMP, Minitab, or Python).

Strong understanding of precision mechanical assembly and metrology principles.

Nice-to-have Skills

Experience with precision polishing of semiconductor or optical surfaces.

Experience transferring processes from development to high-volume manufacturing.

Working knowledge of cleanroom operations and contamination control.

Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
