The Technical Engineering Director is responsible for leading the entire customer project lifecycle, from initial scoping through execution and final delivery. A core focus is transforming client needs into innovative, scalable products and identifying new intellectual property. This role involves building, mentoring, and strategically managing a high-performance technical team. Furthermore, the Director acts as the primary technical authority and external representative, coordinating departmental alignment and driving customer success.
Key Responsibilities
Drive end-to-end delivery on customer projects, managing all phases from technical scoping to execution and final delivery.
Transform client needs into innovation by identifying opportunities for new intellectual property and transferring these innovations into scalable company products.
Build and curate a high-performance team through recruitment, mentorship, career development, and fostering an open and collaborative environment.
Allocate and optimize talent across various projects to ensure effective resource alignment with department priorities while balancing workload.
Serve as a technical authority and trusted advisor by leveraging deep domain knowledge in machine learning, LLMs, and/or quantum computing.
Coordinate with other directors to identify cross-project synergies and ensure departmental alignment to maximize company-wide impact.
Represent the department externally, acting as a technical and strategic point of contact for customers to align client success with company objectives.
Required Skills
Master’s or PhD degree in Machine Learning, Physics, Computer Science, or a related STEM field
Minimum 3 years of industry experience working on applied machine learning solutions (NLP, Large Language Models, or Deep Learning)
Minimum 2 years of project management experience delivering end-to-end client engagements
Demonstrated experience in team management, including managing managers and multi-project pipelines
Proficiency in Python and applied machine learning frameworks
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse and distributed technical and non-technical teams
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience translating prototypes into final products in collaboration with Product and Platform teams
Proven track record acting as a customer point of contact to align technical roadmaps with customer expectations
Ability to mentor senior engineers and managers to support professional growth and retention
Solid background in developing and managing project plans, budgets, and milestones in complex projects
Excellent communication skills, especially for presenting at C-level stakeholder meetings
Familiarity with quantum computing concepts or enterprise-scale AI deployment
Technology Tags
Required deep domain knowledge and industry experience with Machine Learning, NLP, and Large Language Models.
