The Senior Quantum Applications Architect will lead the development of algorithms and applications designed for scaled fault-tolerant quantum computers. This role involves working at the cutting-edge of science to develop advanced toolsets for modeling quantum resources and optimizing quantum circuits. The position requires strong collaboration with world-class scientists and engineers to drive innovation across quantum applications and development platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Design algorithms and applications for fault-tolerant quantum computers.
Develop and apply advanced toolsets for modeling quantum applications on various hardware architectures.
Determine the quantum resources required to execute quantum applications.
Develop and apply new techniques for application- and architecture-aware quantum circuit compilation and optimization.
Drive cross-group collaboration within Microsoft Quantum teams, including qubit modeling and quantum error correction.
Required Skills
4+ years of experience in high-performance computing, quantum algorithms, quantum error correction, or quantum simulation.
Experience in research and/or development of commercial software, compilers, scientific computing applications, or multi-component systems.
Strong communication and leadership skills (4+ years experience in a collaborative environment).
Ability to apply AI to accelerate engineering while developing shipping and prototype code.
Ability to evaluate agentic solutions using measurable metrics and safeguards (following Responsible AI requirements).
Ability to leverage AI tools for innovation and efficiency (e.g., performance modeling, task automation).
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience developing and implementing algorithms for quantum applications, preferably for fault-tolerant quantum systems.
Experience with high-performance classical computing methods.
Skills in applied mathematics or related disciplines.
