This role is for a Quantum Computer Scientist focused on applied research and development within the Leidos Quantum Incubator. The scientist will research quantum network behavior and algorithms for quantum networking and computing. A key part of the job involves developing software to simulate and orchestrate quantum networks. The goal is to mature new quantum technologies from initial concepts into working prototypes.

Key Responsibilities

Design, simulate, and analyze cutting-edge devices related to quantum communication, sensing, and precision positioning.

Develop new concepts for quantum communication and protocols for distributed quantum devices.

Design software capable of creating high-fidelity simulations of quantum communications, photonics, or sensing experiments.

Coordinate large-scale software development efforts specifically for quantum device simulations.

Collaborate across different teams and fields to leverage quantum technologies for organizational goals.

Required Skills

Research experience in computer science theory, algorithms theory, distributed quantum computing, network behavior, or network nonlocality.

Familiarity with quantum information software tools (e.g., Qiskit, Pennylane, SeQUeNCe, QuTIP).

Experience developing innovative solutions using relevant research results.

Strong theory and analytical skills.

Strong technical writing skills, including experience in writing advanced technical proposals.

Experience with standard programming languages for scientific applications (Python, Matlab, Mathematica) and version control (Git).

Nice-to-have Skills

A PhD in a relevant scientific or engineering field.

Extensive research experience in quantum information and communication theory.

Deep knowledge of computer science algorithms and principles.

Familiarity with theory and applications of quantum networks.
