This role is for a Staff Quantum Engineer focused on gate-based quantum computation for superconducting quantum processors. The engineer will lead research and development efforts, specifically developing and implementing methods to characterize and benchmark single- and two-qubit gates. Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement benchmarking and characterization methods for single- and two-qubit quantum gates.
Analyze gate fidelities and address their underlying physical limitations to improve quantum processor performance.
Collaborate across design, fabrication, software, and theory teams to significantly boost Quantum Processing Unit (QPU) performance.
Drive and lead initiatives to boost the performance of upcoming generations of QPUs and contribute to the technological roadmap.
Mentor junior team members and lead technical focus areas within the R&D team.
Required Skills
Proven knowledge of gate-based quantum computation.
Python development experience.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Independent problem-solving abilities and drive to contribute to large-scale R&D.
Demonstrated R&D track record substantiated by patents, publications, or presentations in quantum technologies.
Research mentoring and leadership experience in an academic or industrial setting.
PhD in Physics, Quantum Technologies, or a related technical field, or similar level of experience after an MSc.
Nice-to-have Skills
Experimental experience with superconducting quantum bits or other modalities.
Experience with version control and collaborative software development.
Experimental experience with calibration automation or quantum processor benchmarking.
Good written and spoken English communication skills.
