This role is for a Senior Technical Program Manager specializing in Fabrication Operations for IonQ's trapped-ion quantum computers. The primary mission is to manage and track the lifecycle of quantum computing traps and wafers, serving as the crucial link between design, layout, fabrication, and test teams, especially with external fab partners. The manager will ensure timely execution of fabrication activities, mitigate schedule risks, and optimize the learning cycle time to advance the delivery and performance of fundamental quantum computer building blocks.
Key Responsibilities
Collect, track, and align documentation and requirements from internal teams regarding deliveries and intercept points.
Monitor the status of wafers and chips during fabrication and testing to ensure timely measurements and feedback for iteration improvements.
Identify and communicate schedule risks, bottlenecks, and showstoppers, and propose mitigating solutions to keep deliveries on track.
Coordinate information and sample flow among design, layout, fabrication, and test teams to optimize the learning cycle time.
Analyze and present program status to cross-functional teams to inform critical program decisions and updates.
Develop clear and realistic project timelines, including identifying key milestones, potential risks, and completion dates.
Manage fab-related expenses, track against the budget, and prepare necessary Purchase Orders.
Required Skills
Master's degree or higher in Engineering or a relevant field.
5+ years of experience in a fast-paced new product introduction (NPI) team.
Expertise in tracking complex manufacturing activities with interdependencies.
Advanced experience using Office Timeline, Smartsheet, and Excel macros.
Strong understanding of manufacturing concepts and managing accelerated timelines.
Experience handling procurement flows, including quotes and purchase orders.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Nice-to-have Skills
5+ years of experience within a commercial semiconductor foundry.
Experience working with ion trapping or photonic devices.
