Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the creation of IonQ's research and development initiatives in quantum algorithms for finance, covering areas like portfolio optimization, option pricing, and risk modeling.

Lead project management in areas such as quantum information theory, high performance computing, and quantum software engineering to ensure finance algorithms run on real quantum hardware.

Translate complex financial problem statements into quantum algorithmic frameworks suitable for both near-term and future fault-tolerant quantum devices.

Collaborate with external teams to define and execute industry pilots with major banks, hedge funds, and asset managers.

Publish and present groundbreaking results at top-tier academic and industry venues, shaping global thought leadership in quantum finance.

Partner with IonQ's business and product teams to translate research outcomes into deployable, scalable commercial offerings.

Required Skills

Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Quantitative Finance, or a related field.

5 or more years of experience in quantitative research, algorithm design, or computational finance, including 5 years in a leadership role.

Excellent knowledge and skills in quantum computing, including error correction, circuit compilation, high-performance computing, and quantum software engineering.

Demonstrated expertise in quantum algorithms, optimization, or machine learning, and familiarity with quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, IonQ SDK, or Pennylane).

Deep understanding of financial modeling, including stochastic calculus, numerical methods, and high-performance computing.

Exceptional communication skills for engaging both technical and executive audiences.

Excellent knowledge and skills in quantum for AI/ML.
