Key Responsibilities
Independently build and integrate complex optical, vacuum, mechanical, and electrical hardware to create commercial products and prototypes.
Develop, refine, and document assembly processes, work instructions, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in collaboration with engineers to ensure consistent quality.
Conduct inspections throughout manufacturing processes and perform receiving and in-process inspections of components and subassemblies to ensure proper build and adherence to quality standards.
Lead by example in maintaining high standards of workmanship, safety, and quality within the production environment.
Support production line maintenance, continuous improvement initiatives, and troubleshooting efforts to optimize efficiency and output.
Required Skills
4 years HARDWARE ASSEMBLY (OPTICS, VACUUM, OR HIGH-RELIABILITY ELECTROMECHANICAL SYSTEMS) experience in precision hardware assembly (optics, vacuum, or high-reliability electromechanical systems).
Associates or bachelor ENGINEERING degree in engineering, physics, or related fields.
Strong understanding of manufacturing quality principles, including inspection, GD&T, traceability, and process documentation.
Experience with handling delicate components and equipment, such as precision optics, semiconductors, and fiber optic components.
Good manual dexterity to assemble small components into sub-assemblies.
Ability to work independently with incomplete instructions, utilizing engineering drawings, models, and prior experience.
Comfort and familiarity with standard clean room practices and working in clean rooms.
Nice-to-have Skills
Familiarity with GD&T tolerancing.
Great verbal and written communication skills to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff.
Strong engagement and collaboration skills with a constant drive for success, ownership, and pride in work.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a fast learning rate.
Capability of working with both a high degree of autonomy and collaboratively.
