An Associate Electrical Engineer will develop analog and mixed-signal designs for quantum systems and sensors deployed in space, terrestrial, and lab environments. This role involves designing, integrating, testing, and qualifying custom circuits and control system subsystems. The engineer will collaborate with a team to create high-performance, low-noise, and radiation-tolerant circuits for a quantum gravity gradient sensor demonstration mission with NASA JPL/Goddard.
Key Responsibilities
Execute engineering projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Develop analog circuits through design, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
Design, model, and simulate analog circuits, then validate their performance through bench testing.
Design control loops in both analog and digital domains to manage system behavior.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to troubleshoot, debug, and rework existing circuit boards.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
Functional knowledge of schematic capture and layout software (e.g., OrCAD, Altium, PADS)
Demonstrated capability in circuit noise analysis, analog circuit analysis, signal-integrity, power integrity, and EMI/EMC requirements
Experience with component derating and PCB-level thermal mitigation
Ability to work safely with high voltage and/or high current circuits and test equipment
Nice-to-have Skills
Working knowledge of control systems and signal processing
Experience in circuit simulation using SPICE software
Experience with high and ultra-high vacuum system environments
Experience with Contract Electronic Manufacturing
Experience with power electronics including DC-DC converters, filters, and high power (<1kW) amplifiers
