This Applications Engineer role focuses on establishing and leading a new Applications Lab to rapidly prototype with Infleqtion's cutting-edge quantum technologies, including atomic clocks and quantum sensors. This hands-on position bridges engineering and customer engagement. The engineer will develop compelling technology demonstrations and functional prototypes that directly align with market needs, working closely with Business Development and Sales teams to translate customer interests.
Key Responsibilities
Establish, organize, and manage the Infleqtion Applications Lab to support the development of demos and prototypes.
Design, build, and deploy proof-of-concept systems that showcase the utility of quantum products in real-world scenarios.
Engage directly with Sales and Business Development teams to interpret customer needs and shape product application narratives.
Design and implement custom software to interface existing hardware platforms, integrating diverse subsystems into cohesive, demo-ready applications.
Develop simulations that demonstrate the feasibility of application concepts and contribute to technical publications and white papers.
Document prototypes, write test protocols, and assist in transferring successful applications to product teams.
Required Skills
Strong scripting and software development experience in Python.
Comfortable working in embedded Linux environments.
Proven experience interfacing with hardware APIs and customizing embedded applications.
Experience designing and building demos or customer-facing prototypes with technical hardware.
Ability to process, visualize, and communicate technical data clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience with React and web-based UI development for demos.
Experience with radar systems.
Experience with Rust and hardware description languages (e.g., Verilog, VHDL).
Familiarity with simulation and modeling tools such as Simulink, MATLAB, Ansys, COMSOL, or Python-based simulation libraries.
Hands-on lab experience working with high precision oscillators, RF systems, and timing standards.
Prior experience with customer-facing technical roles or technical sales support.
Broad familiarity with hardware systems, including electronics, photonics, and opto-mechanical integration.
