This position is for a Signal and Power Integrity/System Hardware Developer Engineer contributing to the development of Quantum Systems hardware at IBM. The role involves analyzing high-speed serial channels and power domains to ensure robust hardware performance. Responsibilities include performing strategic pre-production analysis, executing lab verification measurements, and collaborating across teams to drive aggressive product goals. The main goal is to innovate and improve the performance and quality of future hardware designs for the Quantum brand.
Key Responsibilities
Perform strategic analysis on pre-production hardware designs using modeling tools and simulation to improve future Quantum hardware performance.
Develop and execute laboratory verification and characterization on early hardware, enabling model-to-hardware correlation.
Conduct laboratory measurements using equipment like an oscilloscope, VNA, and TDR.
Collaborate with global teams and leadership to define strategies and meet aggressive product goals and schedules.
Continuously innovate design and development processes using Agile best practices.
Required Skills
3-5 years of experience in Signal and Power Integrity analysis.
Experience in time-domain and frequency-domain assessment of signaling channels and Power Distribution Networks.
Familiarity with Microprocessor and ASIC 1st Level Chip Packaging and Hardware Development.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to proactively solve problems independently and in a team environment.
Nice-to-have Skills
Comprehensive understanding of Microprocessor, ASIC, and hardware development engineering processes.
Experience with programming languages such as Python, Skill, Perl, C++, or Matlab.
Comprehensive skills using signal and power integrity simulation software tools.
Experience with PCB design software.
Strong background in electrical engineering.
Strong background in transmission line theory.
Strong background in digital signal processing, radio frequency design, or packaging and PCB materials/processes.
