This internship involves working as a Hardware Developer at IBM, contributing to the development, testing, and support of advanced hardware, firmware, and semiconductors for major IBM infrastructure, including Quantum Systems. Key Responsibilities
Develop, test, and provide customer support for hardware, firmware, and semiconductors used in industry-leading IBM products.
Participate in design and verification activities, including Design for Test (DFT) and performance modeling.
Conduct signal integrity, power integrity, and analysis for product and packaging reliability qualification.
Perform processor and system test and validation, along with component and system characterization.
Contribute to mechanical design, thermal design, and printed circuit board physical design.
Required Skills
Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Optics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related majors.
Prior project or internship experience in computer hardware or testing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Nice-to-have Skills
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and architecture (FPGAs, RISC-V, ARM, MIPS).
Basic knowledge of hardware description languages (RTL, VHDL, Verilog) and circuit simulation tools (SPICE).
Proficiency in programming languages (C/C++, Python, or Java).
Experience with microprocessor or ASIC design skills, verification, and testing.
Familiarity with various hardware architectures including Quantum systems.
Proficiency in CAD tools and 3D modeling.
Knowledge of computer architecture coursework, including Signal Integrity.
