This role is for an experienced Flexible Interconnect Signal Integrity Engineer at IBM. The engineer will develop solutions through high-speed serial channel analysis for flexible printed circuit board development, enabling hardware in Quantum systems. The position involves high-level design support, pre-production analysis, and lab validation, impacting IBM’s diverse product portfolio. Key Responsibilities
Perform strategic analysis on pre-production flex designs utilizing electromagnetic modelling tools, scripting, and transient simulation to validate and improve the performance of future high-quality designs for the Quantum brand.
Execute laboratory verification and characterization on flex designs using a VNA and TDR to enable model-to-hardware correlation and add value to future designs.
Collaborate with cross-site and cross-geo teams and external vendors to establish and refine strategies for achieving aggressive product goals and schedules.
Continuously innovate design and development processes within the department by utilizing Agile best practices.
Required Skills
3-5 years of industry work experience in Signal and Power Integrity, Flex Design, or Hardware Development
Technical execution skills
Excellent communication skills
Eagerness to learn and a growth mindset
Ability to proactively solve problems independently and in a team environment
Nice-to-have Skills
Comprehensive understanding of Signal and Power Integrity, Flex/PCB material properties, transmission line theory, and hardware development engineering processes
Experience with programming skills such as Python, Skill, Perl, C++, or Matlab
Comprehensive skills with signal and power integrity simulation software tools
Ability to develop peer, cross-functional, and cross-business relationships to maximize collaboration and team effectiveness
