This Research Scientist position focuses on optimizing and stabilizing the performance of quantum processors by integrating quantum computing principles with software development and machine learning techniques. The scientist will be responsible for developing, deploying, and maintaining software protocols for calibrating, controlling, benchmarking, and debugging multi-qubit systems. The ultimate goal is to advance the mission of building a large-scale, error-corrected quantum computer capable of solving classically intractable problems. Furthermore, the role requires active participation in the wider research community through publishing and sharing findings.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, deploy, and maintain software for calibrating, controlling, and stabilizing multi-qubit systems.
Develop, deploy, and maintain software for benchmarking, analyzing, and debugging multi-qubit systems.
Improve and maintain the health of the team's Python software codebase for use by colleagues outside of the immediate team.
Author and publish research papers to share findings and generate organizational and community impact.
Required Skills
Two years of experience conducting research in quantum information science or technology.
Experience developing software for data analysis, modeling, or machine learning.
Experience leading to one or more publication submissions for conferences, journals, or public repositories.
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience developing Python software within a collaborative coding environment.
Experience handling quantum gates and readout in superconducting qubit experiments.
Experience developing, deploying, and validating machine learning routines.
Experience with modeling, control optimization, and benchmarking of multi-qubit systems.
