This role is for an expert physicist to join the Theo Collaborators Program at FirstPrinciples, focused on accelerating scientific discovery using an AI Physicist named Theo. Collaborators will stress-test and validate the scientific reasoning and research outputs generated by the AI system, specifically within Quantum Information Theory and related formalizable sub-fields. This work involves reviewing complex research objects, identifying errors or gaps in reasoning, and helping to define standards for credible AI-generated physics.

Key Responsibilities

Review and validate candidate research questions generated by the AI Physicist to ensure they are scientifically meaningful, tractable, and not already resolved in the literature.

Provide feedback on the assumptions, scope, and framing of research questions to improve the AI's question formulation capabilities.

Help define and refine the criteria used to rank research questions based on novelty, complexity, and scientific relevance.

Assess AI-generated research outputs (Dynamic Research Objects) for internal consistency, mathematical soundness, and adherence to accepted physical principles and assumptions.

Identify specific errors, gaps, or limitations in the AI Physicist’s workflow and formal reasoning to inform architectural evolution and improve rigor.

Required Skills

Expertise in quantum information theory or quantum error correction (QEC).

Strong theoretical background in physics.

Strong mathematical grounding.
