This VP of Software Engineering position involves leading and scaling the organization responsible for the entire software stack of eleQtron's trapped-ion quantum computers. The role requires defining the software strategy, architecture, and execution across control software, embedded systems, and cloud services. The VP will build and mentor high-performing engineering teams while ensuring reliable integration between the software and cutting-edge quantum hardware.
Key Responsibilities
Define and own the comprehensive software strategy for the quantum computing platform, covering control software, embedded systems, cloud services, and developer tools.
Lead the design and implementation of the full software stack powering quantum operations, including embedded software, firmware, and quantum compiler toolchains.
Build, lead, and mentor high-performing software engineering teams focused on control software, cloud platforms, and DevOps.
Collaborate cross-functionally with physics, hardware, and product teams to seamlessly integrate software with the quantum hardware.
Drive engineering excellence by establishing and evolving processes for continuous integration/continuous delivery, testing, documentation, and release cycles.
Required Skills
8+ years of experience in software engineering.
5+ years of experience in software leadership roles (Director, VP, Head of Software).
Strong background in systems-level and real-time/embedded software.
Experience with hardware-software integration.
Proven success in building and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
Excellent communication skills.
Nice-to-have Skills
Experience in quantum computing or quantum programming languages.
Experience with control software for scientific instrumentation.
Understanding of microwave systems, FPGA-based control, or signal processing.
Prior experience in dynamic startups, flat hierarchies, or research-driven environments.
Technology Tags
