The Quantum Solutions Lead will build and lead a research team focused on developing quantum algorithms and applications specifically for neutral atom hardware. This role involves acting as the technical lead for collaborative projects with industrial, academic, and governmental partners across Japan. The lead will drive project execution, prototype algorithms, and identify high-impact applications to deliver tangible results and push quantum computing toward real-world utility in fields like finance and machine learning. This position is central to shaping the company's strategy and advancing practical quantum advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the technical owner for customer-facing quantum projects within Japan and the surrounding region.
Identify and develop new collaboration opportunities alongside commercial and business development teams.
Lead and mentor a team of 3–5 quantum researchers based in Japan.
Drive the execution of collaborative projects, prototyping quantum algorithms and identifying high-impact applications.
Define, track, and evaluate project success against predetermined objectives.
Represent the company at key industry conferences, workshops, and events.
Required Skills
Possess a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, computer science, or quantum physics, or equivalent professional experience.
Demonstrate leadership in quantum algorithm development supported by a strong publication record.
Maintain a deep understanding of and established relationships within the Japanese quantum ecosystem.
Exhibit proven ability to technically lead and manage a small research team.
Have experience delivering complex technical projects.
Be fluent in both English and Japanese.
Demonstrate strong ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-have Skills
Expertise in quantum optimization, quantum machine learning, quantum simulation, or quantum foundations.
Hands-on experience running algorithms on quantum hardware.
Experience with near-term quantum error correction techniques.
Prior exposure to neutral-atom quantum computing platforms.
Strong proficiency in Python.
