Quantum Engineer

On behalf of our client, a pioneering company at the forefront of quantum computing, we are seeking a talented Quantum Engineer. You will serve as a key individual contributor to the company’s mission of building state-of-the-art, scalable, and deployable quantum computers.

This role requires a blend of deep scientific knowledge with practical, hands-on experimental skills. You will be working cross-functionally with world-class Science, Hardware Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to build, test, and integrate the quantum systems for our client's existing and next-generation machines.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in quantum physics, with extensive hands-on experience in a complex laboratory environment. They will be a proficient coder, an independent problem-solver, and be keen to learn new concepts and technologies. We welcome applications from candidates with degrees in Physics, Engineering, or related fields, including those with postdoctoral training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the design, assembly, integration, and testing of complex quantum computing systems.
• Work hands-on with free-space optics, lasers, vacuum systems, and RF electronics.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex engineering challenges.
• Analyse experimental data to diagnose and improve system performance.
• Develop and document procedures for building and calibrating quantum hardware.

Requirements:

• Masters degree in Physics, Engineering or related fields; PhD preferred.
• A minimum of 3 years' prior hands-on experience in a lab environment is required (e.g., working with free-space optics, lasers, RF systems).
• Proficient in coding (Python, C/C++, Linux).
• A background in Quantum Physics or Quantum Computing is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and can pivot as needed.
