The research aims to identify and understand materials loss mechanisms like two-level systems and quasiparticles.

Key Responsibilities

Provide subject matter expertise for combined experimental and computational studies focusing on materials defects.

Develop and use computational tools necessary for running large-scale simulations of disordered structures.

Develop and implement characterization workflows using multiple techniques for thin films and devices, specifically focusing on surfaces and interfaces.

Identify specific material properties that reliably indicate the performance level of superconducting resonators and qubits.

Communicate research findings internally to the team and externally through scientific publications when appropriate.

Required Skills

PhD, or Master's degree plus 4 or more years of quantitative field research experience.
