This role involves mechanical hardware design for cryogenic environments at the AWS Center for Quantum Computing. The specialist will design and implement novel packaging solutions and signal delivery systems for quantum processors operating at extremely low temperatures. Responsibilities include using simulation tools like FEA to ensure designs minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) and driving the entire product development process from conceptual design to final delivery and testing.

Key Responsibilities

Design high density novel packaging solutions for quantum processor units.

Perform cryogenic mechanical design for novel signal conditioning sub-assemblies and signal delivery systems.

Develop simulation-driven designs, including shielding and filtering, to effectively reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) within the qubit environment.

Own the entire product development cycle from requirements gathering and design reports through to final assembly, documentation, and delivery.

Collaborate cross-functionally to refine and define standards and processes that ensure operational excellence.

Required Skills

Expertise in 3D CAD modeling, specifically SolidWorks.

Expertise in thermal and structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using tools like Ansys or COMSOL.

Expertise in hardware design specifically for cryogenic applications.

Experience applying design for manufacturing principles.

Demonstrated ability to drive designs through the full product development cycle.

Strong background in cryogenic mechanical engineering theory and implementation.

Nice-to-have Skills

PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent.

Experience applying forecasting and data mining techniques.
